Located on south west
Ireland's beautiful Dingle Peninsula, within
the Gaeltacht, near Ballydavid.
Montbretia Cottage enjoys a spectacular view
of Mount Brandon and is surrounded by
dramatic hills. Many of the scenes from the
movie Ryan's Daughter were filmed in the
area.
Here you will experience
Irish culture at its best. The property sits
within the heart of the Gaeltacht, where the
Gaelic language is still spoken.
Montbretia Cottage
provides a great location
from which to explore and discover the beauty of the
Dingle Peninsula. Situated just 7 miles (10km) from Dingle
town with its wonderful selection of craft
shops, pubs and fine restaurants.
Traditional Irish music can be heard in pubs
throughout the peninsula. Dingle hosts many famous festivals throughout the year.
And of course there is Dingle Bay's
world-famous resident - Fungi the dolphin -
who has remained in the bay for many years and continues to
delight in human company.
Our closest beach is only a 15 minute
stroll from the cottage, at Muiríoch. It is
a long, sandy beach wonderful for walking,
safe for swimming and ideal for building
sand castles. This is only one of the many
beaches in the area. At Ballydavid pier
(approximately 20 minutes walk) there are two smaller
beaches which are also very popular.
The Dingle Peninsula provides some of the
most spectacular scenery in the country and
Montbretia Cottage is your ideal destination
for a rewarding and relaxing holiday.
